Card of the day

Card of the dayI'll be using this topic to draw a card every day for myself in the morning and discuss its possible implications. If any members want to join me with their own Tarot draws (whatever you do is fine), feel free.
I'm using Crowley's deck The Book of Thoth deck for this. This morning the card of the day is Fortune.
Fortune (called Wheel of Fortune in many decks) is the Atu of Jupiter. This card mentions expansions, and as Jupiter rules "luck", it expresses this as well. I don't believe in Luck. Nor do I find evidence of something called "random." All things seem to be connected to something before it - this is called "cause and effect." And this card explains this law in some way. The card shows a wheel, it is a wheel of change. On this wheel are three creatures representing three stages of human experience or awareness. The force of the wheel moves us naturally from one position to the next. If, as in most cases in life, this wheel is rotating in a forward direction, this card suggests to us that it brings good things. But, gods forbid, if the wheel is moving in the opposite direction, this is a card of loss (but this is actually very rare for this card). Since Jupiter rules coinage, this is a good time to look into our pocketbooks and habits associated with it. Depending on other influences, this is a time to assess risks. Perhaps a gamble is going to be worth it. I had on my mind when I drew the card mostly the ideas of my new website and this forum. I really think this card tells me that this stage of my evolution is destined to pay off.
Today started out rather busy. First off, I have one of those runny toilet problems I tried to fix while my coffee was brewing. Then I checked in on the forum of my website provider to read the feedback about ThelemicWaves.com's look and feel and made some changes. In the meantime, during that, I did two readings. So today's card of the day is a little later than it ought to be. So here it is...
Knight of Swords: This card would be the King of Swords in Rider-Waite based decks, but the alchemical King is really a wandering Knight image - so Crowley changed it. This card is all about full frontal assualt. He's definately on the move! He's a man of principles and high mindedness. So as yesterday promised expansive growth (and it was a busy and interesting day), today shows us continued motion. And a lot of mental activity at that.
Although yesterday's "prediction" from the card of the day was not specific at all (I'm not hugely fond of drawing out Court Cards), it was appropriate. As I had so much mental energy and put it into various projects, I found myself interrupted right at those very interesting moments when I was about to get excited about what I was doing - I think that's a very Knight of Swords moment, the feeling of "damn it" you get when someone interrupts one need-to-do with another, and perhaps more profitable need-to-do.
The other day in a reading for a female client I drew the Prince of Swords as part of the three cards in her outcome. Basically, her question was "will __________ agree amicably to pay his share of the expenses when we move in together?" That Prince was the final of the three cards and based on the three cards I responded "Yes, for the most part, he's happy to share the expenses but with this Prince being here it looks like something has to get cut out - either he drops a personal favorite expense of his or requests that you cut something out of the household expenses he finds unnecessary." This turned out to be very funny because they'd already made the agreement that the landscaping services were going to be discontinued because he would be doing that instead. The funny part is, if you look at the Prince of Swords, he kind of does look like a man riding one of the riding lawnmowers - which this man had just recently purchased for the sake of eliminating the landscaping services the lady had been hiring out for until then. I know the Prince is not the Knight, so this paragraph doesn't exactly relate, but I wanted to show how Court Cards seem to have their own unique way of working that I haven't always been able to figure out. Today's card: Four of Cups. Called the Lord of Blended Pleasure, this card suggests more than any other cups card a need for action. Here we find ourselves in the after-the-fact moment of our happiness, sort of like "ah that was fun, but what do I do now to fill my time?" In a sense, this card is like a relative state of boredom. Drawing this card this morning brings me to the point of why I've never been fond of single card draws for a daily read. What the hell is this really telling me? Am I going to have nothing to do today? Am I going to get overly excited about something and then find out it was really nothing? Are single card draws something I should consider predictive or just meditative? I'll tell you what - I do require getting my house in order and I do have a required trip to the store to make, all things I've been putting off until the last minute (it's cute in a way watching cats beg when they know the food they have is just down to spoonfuls in the auto-feeder of theirs). So today is one requiring action, but why didn't a wand come up for this? Something, if this card is predictive, seems bent on disappointing me in a small degree.
My years of experience working in commissions based industries and pay-per-part production work has taught me a lot about how to work for a living without a fixed wage or salary structure. Working for myself as a professional reader, that's the way it basically is.
Right now, Kasamba is my bread and butter. The work I land through them and their advertising efforts and grand amount of traffic more than pays my bills. So with them, treating them as I would any other commissions based enterprise where the leads would be provided to me in some fashion or another, I have created a goal system for myself. I expect myself to earn anywhere from $50 to $70 a day, Monday through Friday, on Kasamba. Anything I make on Keen is a nice little extra bonus and anything I make on Thelemic Waves is good toward promoting that Website or saving me from a due date that Kasamba isn't able to get me to (which has usually been the case). I'm explaining all this because perhaps the Four of Cups on Friday somehow relates to my having made on Kasamba 142% of my goal. It speaks of Luxury, as Crowley has keyed the card to be called. It is luxury, the four of cups, because it is more than one expects, but it is blended luxury because it is not exactly perfect. And in this case, Kasamba is always more than enough but I have only to wait until the middle of next month to have the money in my hand. It is so much nicer when I make my living on Thelemic Waves because the money is in my hand immediately upon payment from a customer - which is usually when my creditors would want it from me. I didn't do a card of the day Saturday because the forum server was down for half the day it seems. And then yesterday I plum forgot. Today's Card: Ace of Disks. Oh boy. WTF? This is one of the reasons I don't like "card of the day." A single card does not tell me enough, honestly. But let's suffice it to say, today is about material things, objects, and it will either be a beginning or and end - a gain or a loss.
Yesterday's card was the Ace of Disks. Hmmm. Nothing really regarding money involved itself yesterday - in fact, there was very little involved. But very interesting, I performed a reading for the lady who designed the new Thelemic Waves logo you see all over the place now and this card came up for her. It turned out to represent "a book," which is a topic that my friend Babs and I have been considering for several months now. So I'm taking this one card a day thing to mean basically that whatever the topic of the card drawn is, that's the valuable topic for the day. So Babs, yes - disks seem relevant to books: the Ten may look like a library to you after all, and the ace is definitely a book.
Today's card: Knight of Wands. Oh damn Court cards - you make better sense to me in spreads than in single cards. So does this mean that things are going to be fair? Should I mean that like with weather, which is to say "not bad, nothing to note?" This card also talks about integrity and motivation as well as good negotiations. Well - we'll see.
Yesterday was a good day. In fact, better than the average Tuesday as far as working goes - and I have an appointment this evening for a client through Thelemic Waves. I'll have to remind her again about this forum because I sure would like her feedback here. She was/is a client of mine on Kasamba as well, and we discovered each other online outside of Kasamba and I give her readings without Kasamba from time to time. When she calls me through Kasamba, I'm a little irritated. It costs her more to use my Kas service, and I have to wait until the middle of the next month to get the payment into my accounts. That's why Thelemic Waves is my preferred, and lowest priced, method of providing my services.
Today's card: Four of Swords - so today looks like a peaceful day, one where I think I can rest. Yes - this is rather accurate. It is the first of the month, so I'm neither behind nor ahead on my monthly goal. It would be a good day to get ahead, but getting whatever just to get a taste of what the month's work-load is likely to be is all I do on the first of each month. And August promises to be busy with heat waves possibly sending more people indoors and online. Plus I have that appointment this evening - a "mini reading" she said, so it should only be a few bucks - but enough to relax with. So today is all about four of swords, a recovery card and one showing some establishment of authority. Hmm.
Hmm. Do I want to continue this one card per day thing? Every time I initiate a one card per day program, it morphs into 3 cards instead because I never feel satisfied that one card presents enough information. Was yesterday all about the four of swords? There were some interesting things that took place, and none of yesterday was about sitting around patiently or relaxing at all. In fact, I spent several hours chasing money and giving it to the electric company. A fuex pax on my part - a bill was neglected and my electricity got disconected around noon. Then I had to go get some cash and pay it the bill. It was a day about issues of recovery (another four of swords issue, but I didn't forecast the negative issues). Would other cards involved in the throw have given me the heads up?
I'm going to draw three cards from now on. And later today I should organize my desk! 9 of Swords 10 of Cups 10 of Swords Ouch! If you don't mind, I'm just going to see what happens. I don't like the looks of that at all.
